David Bussau Creates Opportunity
Senior Australian of the Year, David Bussau, sums up his contribution to society simply: “God created me to be an entrepreneur, and I realised that the best thing I had to contribute to society was those entrepreneurial skills.
Does God Torture Sinners?
What would you do if you were on a jury and such a case as this should came before you: a group of children, out for a walk in the country, failed to see a “no trespassing” sign and walked through the garden of an eccentric recluse, picking and trampling on some of the flowers. Breathing vengeance, the children were put through every form of torture conceivable. Their screams filled the building and beyond.
How Attitudes Have Changed
It is “the duty of every elector in Australia to shut out, if possible, from the first Federal Parliament every candidate upon whose forehead is ‘mark of the beast.’” “Under the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Australia, perfect religious equality is assured.”
Circumstantial Faith
As a believer—for present purposes, defined simply as one who believes—I have often wondered what and how I would believe differently, had I been born into a family and culture with different beliefs.
Air Rage
Because of my love of aerial photos, the opportunity to fly always brings an un-normal urgency to secure a window seat. One time, this urge brought out an uglier side of me I didn’t know existed.
Homelessness . . . Why?
As many of us are tucking ourselves into our cosy beds each night, in our comfortable homes, do we ever stop to think about those not so fortunate, who are bunking down under a pile of newspapers or making a bed in an industrial garbage container.

Dieting Can Be Dangerous
You’ve decided to lose a few kilos. You read up on the latest diet—the one your neighbour raved about— and stock your pantry and refrigerator with all the necessary foods. Fast forward to two-and-a-half weeks later. You decide to order a pizza with extra cheese instead—you did have an awful day—and wolf down six slices. Not only are you no thinner than when you started your diet— now you’re depressed as well.
The Great Babylonian Revival
Sigmund Freud wrote about dreams and their interpretation. His writings, not even a century old, are already passe. In contrast, a dream and its interpretation that the biblical prophet Daniel recorded 26 centuries ago is still relevant today!
Work in Comfort
Did you know the layout of your workspace could be damaging your health? Your work could, quite literally, be making you sick. Do you get headaches, backache, blurred vision or eyestrain? If so, you might need to take a look at your work environment to see what needs improvement.
Lest We Forget
It was still dark. My son and I had been walking for some 25 minutes. There were no closer car parks. A soft mist swept past us from time to time, reminding us to pull our coats tighter. Lifting my head, there were others now.
It all Started With A Meal
Gehazi stood before the
King. It wasn’t the first
time he had been in
front of the King—and it
wouldn’t be the last. He
was a storyteller. And the King loved to
hear stories.
Gehazi was the servant of the
prophet, Elisha. He had seen him
do many miraculous things and was
occasionally called on by the King to
recount these amazing tales.
