With more and more charities actively appealing for your cash, it’s necessary to ask questions before opening your wallet or passing on your credit card number.

At-Risk Behaviours

Addiction is a commonly used term these days. We’re addicted to sport, addicted to TV, addicted to chocolate and so on. But, note, there is a distinction between what is merely a bad habit and an addiction. When habits become compulsive and harmful, these habits have probably become addictions.

A Theology of Tree Hugging

At the station—a piece of ground about as high as the railway track itself—we board our transport, locally known as the kray haus, or “flying bed.” It’s a three- by two-metre bamboo-and-timber construction, sitting about 30 cm above the tracks. A four-stroke, belt-drive five-horsepower motor propels the vehicle. We board, the driver pull-starts the engine and we are moving.

5-step Spiritual Energiser

Why is maintaining a consistent, effective prayer and devotional life so hard? Why is it so much easier to give work, phone calls, TV watching, Web surfing, lawn mowing, or whatever, priority over our time with God?

Heirs to Wealth Untold

Recently a teenager in Switzerland became one of the wealthiest women in the world. On January 29, 2003—her 18th birthday—Athina Roussel, granddaughter of the late Aristotle Onassis, inherited an estimated $US2.7 billion. Envious? Think again.
